Morilles et Trillium
Hand-printed linocut on handmade Lokta paper
Dimensions: 10 x 15 inch (26 x 40 cm)
Every spring, I wonder if I’ll be lucky enough to find morels this time. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened yet. But I know how to grow them, so I still get my annual dose of morels that way. Meanwhile, the trilliums are blooming.
This print was created using the ‘reduction method,’ this technique involves carving a single lino block in stages to build up layers of color. Here 7 layers have been created. With this technique, a little more is carved away from the printing block after each layer of colour, so that only one edition can be printed. Once the print is sold out, it will never be available again.
Each print is designed, carved, and hand-printed by me in my small workshop in the Laurentians. Because of it’s handmade nature, slight variations in color and print may occur. These small differences are exactly what make hand-printed works so special and beautiful.
I print on handmade Lokta paper, and each sheet has its own unique character. This makes every piece truly one of a kind
