Hello, I’m Sarah, a cosmopolitan artist who has found her home in the vast forests of Canada. My love for nature is deeply rooted, so it’s no surprise that it shows in my passions and my art. Because of this love, I studied energy-efficient architecture and make botanical block prints. I think this attraction and wonder for diversity is something universal, regardless of where we call home.
About my Art
While living on different continents, I noticed something beautiful: the same patterns, the same plant families, and natural rhythms always repeat themselves. This observation and the indigenous knowledge about plants, fungi, and living creatures is an endless source of inspiration for my art. I want to inspire people to slow down and reconnect with the beauty around us. The ecosystems that surround us are vulnerable and need awareness to protect them.
About my Printwork
I have been working with digital tools for a long time, but in this fast-paced world, I longed for something manual. Something I could touch and feel. I discovered the ancient technique of block printing. And nothing drives me like this. There is something magical about the entire process that touches my soul in a way that other media simply cannot achieve. I work with both linoleum and woodcut techniques. I carve my motif onto the plates, apply non-toxic oil-based printing ink, and then transfer the image onto handmade paper using a press. You can never fully predict how a print will turn out, which is what makes the process so captivating. It’s a beautiful leap of faith that mirrors the rhythm of nature.
Thank you for being here and seeing the beauty of nature too,
Sarah
