Madame Printemps

Handmade linocut print

Dimensions: 8.5 x 11 inch (22 x 28cm)
Printed on lokta paper using Caligo oil-based relief ink

‘Madame Printemps’ embodies the season’s generous offerings. Her flowing hair intertwines with ground ivy (Glechoma hederacea) and lady’s bedstraw (Galium verum), gradually transforming into vibrant rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum) leaves. Her elegant dress forms from unfurling fiddleheads (Matteuccia struthiopteris), also known as “têtes de violon.” Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) flowers frame her silhouette. Behind her, delicate wild leek (Allium tricoccum) blossoms illuminate the background like stars.

Each plant featured is both edible and medicinal, emerging in spring. Nature’s perfect remedies for our bodies during seasonal transition.

Created using the ‘reduction method,’ this technique involves carving a single lino block in stages to build up layers of color. Here 8 layers have been created

Spring comes like a beautiful woman that has many gifts in her pockets.

All my artwork is handmade and original with a mix of limited and open edition linocut prints. I design, carve, press and pull the prints in my studio in the Laurentides, Canada.

Please note: Because of its handmade nature there may be tiny variations to the picture. Be this colour, evenness of ink or other small differences.
