Berlin, 2016. Returning from travels with a heart full of experiences but a mind clouded by an impossible decision. The city felt too vast, too overwhelming, pressing down with its weight of endless possibilities and paralyzing choices. In that moment of feeling utterly lost, when the noise of urban life drowned out any inner voice that might guide the way forward, there was only one refuge left – the quiet space within.
In meditation, when the world finally fell silent, they appeared. Two ravens, clear as daylight in the mind’s eye, perched together on a single branch. But they weren’t looking at each other – they were looking outward, in opposite directions, each keeping watch while the other remained present. In that instant, everything became clear.
This is what true partnership means. Not always facing the same direction, not always seeing eye to eye, but being there – vigilant, protective, unwavering. One watches the path ahead while the other guards what’s behind. One dreams while the other keeps watch. One leaps while the other provides the solid ground to return to.
The ravens in this print embody that sacred trust we find in our deepest relationships – with lovers, friends, family, or even with ourselves. They remind us that we don’t have to carry the weight of awareness alone. That in the most overwhelming moments, when decisions feel impossible and the world seems too much, we can find strength in knowing someone has our back.
All my artwork is handmade and original with a mix of limited and open edition linocut prints plus digitally printed greeting cards. The prints are designed, made, pressed and pulled in my studio in the Laurentides, Canada.
Please note: Because of its handmade nature there may be tiny variations to the picture – be this colour, evenness of ink or other small differences.
