Le long des routes oubli\u00e9es et dans les terrains vagues, la chicor\u00e9e d\u00e9ploie ses p\u00e9tales bleu ciel comme de minuscules morceaux de paradis tomb\u00e9s du ciel. Cette humble \u00ab mauvaise herbe \u00bb rec\u00e8le des si\u00e8cles d'histoires humaines : l'histoire de cette plante remonte \u00e0 l'\u00c9gypte antique, et les Louisianais ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 ajouter de la racine de chicor\u00e9e \u00e0 leur caf\u00e9 lorsque les blocus navals de l'Union pendant la guerre civile am\u00e9ricaine ont coup\u00e9 le port de La Nouvelle-Orl\u00e9ans, cr\u00e9ant ainsi une tradition de longue date.<\/p>\n

Ce qui semble ordinaire se r\u00e9v\u00e8le extraordinaire : bien que comestibles crues, les feuilles de chicor\u00e9e sauvage ont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement un go\u00fbt amer, en particulier les feuilles les plus \u00e2g\u00e9es, mais elles se transforment en l\u00e9gumes verts nourrissants lorsqu'elles sont cuites. La racine torr\u00e9fi\u00e9e devient un substitut de caf\u00e9 riche et terreux qui a permis aux communaut\u00e9s de survivre pendant les p\u00e9riodes de guerre et de difficult\u00e9s \u00e9conomiques. Le folklore europ\u00e9en murmure une magie plus profonde : tout comme la springwort et la moonwort, elle pourrait ouvrir des portes verrouill\u00e9es, et on croyait \u00e9galement que la chicor\u00e9e rendait invisible celui qui la poss\u00e9dait.<\/p>\n

Toutes mes \u0153uvres sont faites \u00e0 la main et originales, avec un m\u00e9lange de linogravures en \u00e9dition limit\u00e9e et en \u00e9dition ouverte. Les gravures sont con\u00e7ues, r\u00e9alis\u00e9es, press\u00e9es et tir\u00e9es dans mon atelier situ\u00e9 dans les Laurentides, au Canada.<\/p>\n

Cette gravure c\u00e9l\u00e8bre la r\u00e9silience discr\u00e8te de la chicor\u00e9e. Une plante qui pousse l\u00e0 o\u00f9 d'autres ne peuvent pas, offrant nourriture et beaut\u00e9 \u00e0 ceux qui savent la regarder. Chaque fleur bleu azur nous rappelle que la nourriture et l'\u00e9merveillement poussent souvent dans les endroits les plus inattendus.<\/p>\n

Chaque impression est dessin\u00e9e, grav\u00e9e et imprim\u00e9e \u00e0 la main par moi-m\u00eame dans mon petit atelier dans les Laurentides. En raison de leur fabrication artisanale, de l\u00e9g\u00e8res variations de couleur et d\u2019impression peuvent appara\u00eetre. Ce sont pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment ces petites diff\u00e9rences qui rendent les \u0153uvres imprim\u00e9es \u00e0 la main si sp\u00e9ciales et si belles.<\/p>\n

J\u2019imprime sur du papier Lokta artisanal, et chaque feuille a son caract\u00e8re unique. Cela rend chaque pi\u00e8ce v\u00e9ritablement unique.<\/p>\n
